Daniel's Prayer for Revival

By Dr. Richard Ing

October 9, 2005

PRAYING FOR REVIVAL

When Daniel the prophet read Jeremiah’ prophecy about Israel being released from captivity in Babylon after seventy years (Jer. 25:11-12; Jer. 29:10), he humbled himself and set himself to fast and pray that the prophecy would come to pass.  Da. 9:3.  Daniel knew that God wanted someone to “stand in the gap” and fast and pray for it.

We find the same situation in Luke 2.  Although the coming of the Messiah had been prophesied many times in the past, especially in the Book of Isaiah, God rose up Simeon to pray for the coming of Jesus.  Lk. 2:25-32.  God also raised up Anna who fasted and prayed night and day for over eighty-two years.  Lk. 2:36-38.  God will not do something as important as Holy Spirit revival/harvest without many saints fasting and praying for it.

Although a last day revival/harvest is prophesied in the Bible (Mt. 24:14; Mk. 13:10; Rev. 14:6), someone or some group must fast and pray for it to come to pass.  Daniel 9 is the prototype for praying for revival.

DANIEL INTERCEDED

Daniel was perhaps the holiest man of his time.  His prayers reached the throne of God the very first day that he humbled himself and set his mind and heart to understand.  Da. 10:12; Da. 9:23.  One of the qualifications for praying for revival is holiness.  Before our prayers can have an effect in heaven, we need to spend time forgiving others and repenting and asking God to forgive us for our own sins.  Holiness is much desired by God.  “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  Ja.  5:16.  Conversely, the prayers of sinful people will gain little.  Is. 59:2.

Daniel identified with the sins of the people.  He didn’t say, “The people have sinned.”  He said,

We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.”  Da. 9:5.  (Underlining added)

He included himself.

Daniel confessed the sins of the people.  Then, he called upon the Lord for His mercy and forgiveness (Da. 9:9) and His righteousness (Da. 9:16) to forgive the sins of the people.  Daniel recognized that the sins of the people had brought curses upon them.  Da. 9:11.  But, forgiveness of their sins would lift or break these curses.  Then, God would do something.

BATTLING IN THE HEAVENS

When Daniel’s prayers were heard by God, He dispatched an angel to go and speak to Daniel.  However, the angel took twenty-one days to reach Daniel because of fierce opposition the angel encountered in the mid-heavens.  The angel said,

Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.  But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.  Da. 10:12-13.

After the angel delivered God message to Daniel, he said, “Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee?  And now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo the prince of Grecia shall come.”  Da. 10:20.  The prince of Persia and the prince of Grecia were Satan’s ruler spirits or strongmen in the mid-heavens that resisted the angel from heaven.  Therefore, Michael, a chief angel, was sent to battle against them and enable God’s messenger to break through and speak to Daniel.

We know that Satan’s princes rule from the mid-heavens and are sent to stop our prayers and resist the gospel of salvation.  Eph. 6:12 .  Satan has appointed princes or strong men to control every area on earth.  These areas are called principalities.  Col. 1:16.  It is the responsibility of the Church to war against these demonic powers in order to bring about revival/harvest.  Mt. 12:29; Mt. 16:19; Mt. 18:18.  As we war and bind up Satan’s princes, God will send mighty angels with chains from heaven to complete the task.

In the end times, God’s true church will war against demonic powers and strong men and Michael and his angels will fight for us.  Rev. 12:7-11.  It will take the prayers of the saints and God’s angels to defeat Satan and his evil angels.

BREAKING CURSES

But before we can successfully bind up Satan’s ruler spirits, we need to take away the right of Satan’s princes to rule.  It is a spiritual principle.  Before we can bind up devils and cast them out, we need to first break all curses that give them a spiritual right to rule.  These curses came about because of the sins of the people.  That is the reason why Daniel confessed and asked God to forgive the sins of the people.

Once the curses are broken, we can bind the strongman and set the people free from oppression and resistance to the gospel. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”  Eph. 6:12.

Jesus said, “But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.  Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man?  and then he will spoil his house.”  Mt. 12:29; Mk. 3:27.

First, we need to intercede for the sins of the people and ask God to break the curses that came over us because of sins.  Then, we need to bind up Satan’s strong men over the Philippines, Hawaii, and other areas of the world.  When more and more of God’s people begin to intercede and repent for the sins of the people, the power to battle against the demonic kingdom will increase exponentially.  Deu. 32:30; Mt. 18:19.  There is power in agreement and unity.  1 Jn. 5:7-8; Ps. 133.

FASTING AND PRAYING FOR REVIVAL

We are still at the first stage: fasting and praying for revival.  We will continue to fast every other Friday and pray every Thursday night and every other Friday night for revival and other things.  Daniel’s Prayer is attached to this newsletter as a guide.  When enough Christians pray together, we can touch the heart of God for revival/harvest.

Once God forgives, the curses will be broken and we will experience a great renaissance in the Church.  Millions upon millions of people all over the world will hear the Gospel of Salvation and come to Jesus Christ to be saved.

We have a great task ahead of us.  Let us humble ourselves, repent and seek the Lord.

A PRAYER FOR ALL SAINTS IN

LIGHT OF THE WORLD MISSIONS

AND ALL OVER THE WORLD

This prayer should be prayed every time the saints come together and individually, daily.

FATHER, WE COME TO YOU IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST.

1. WE HUMBLY CONFESS OUR SINS AND THE SINS OF OUR FOREFATHERS.  WE HAVE SINNED, AND HAVE COMMITTED INIQUITY, AND HAVE DONE WICKEDLY, AND HAVE REBELLED, EVEN BY DEPARTING FROM THY PRECEPTS AND FROM THY JUDGMENTS.

2.  O LORD, RIGHTEOUSNESS BELONGETH TO THEE, BUT UNTO US CONFUSION OF FACES, AS AT THIS DAY; ALL OF YOUR PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD BECAUSE OF THEIR TRESPASS THAT THEY HAVE TRESPASSED AGAINST THEE.

3.  WE HAVE BEEN GRIEVOUSLY DECEIVED AND CONFUSED, AND THE POWER AND AUTHORITY GIVEN TO US BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST HAVE BEEN TAKEN AWAY.

4.  WE HAVE NOT OBEYED THE VOICE OF THE LORD OUR GOD, TO WALK IN HIS SPIRIT, WHICH YOU GAVE US TO GUIDE US, TEACH US AND SHOW US ALL TRUTH.   WE HAVE BECOME SPIRITUALLY IMMATURE AND CARNAL AND UNABLE TO KNOW THE TRUTH.  WE HAVE FAILED TO DO YOUR WILL.

5.  WE CONFESS AND REPENT OF THE SINS OF IDOLATRY, WITCHCRAFT, SEXUAL IMMORALITY, THEFT, LYING, GREED, PRIDE, MURDER, ADULTERY, DISHONORING OUR PARENTS, UNBELIEF, LACK OF LOVE, AND COUNTLESS OTHER SINS AGAINST YOU, O LORD.

6.  BECAUSE OF OUR SINS, TRANSGRESSIONS AND INIQUITIES, THE LAND AND PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CURSED.

7.  BUT YOU ARE A MERCIFUL GOD, FULL OF GRACE AND LOVE AND WE ASK THAT YOU FORGIVE US OUR SINS AND CLEANSE US OF ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.  1 John 1:9.

8.  O LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYERS, OPEN THINE EYES AND BEHOLD OUR DESOLATION.  WE DO NOT PRESENT OUR SUPPLICATIONS BEFORE THEE FOR OUR OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS, BUT FOR THY GREAT MERCIES.

9.  O LORD, HEAR; O LORD FORGIVE, O LORD, HEARKEN AND DO, DEFER NOT, FOR THINE OWN SAKE, O MY GOD: FOR THY CITY AND FOR THY PEOPLE CALLED BY YOUR NAME.  BREAK THE CURSES THAT HAVE COME UPON OUR LAND AND PEOPLE, WE HUMBLY ASK, O GOD.  Gal. 3:13.

10.  WE BIND ALL RULER SPIRITS SATAN HAS SENT TO CARRY OUT THOSE CURSES AGAINST US, IN JESUS’ NAME.  WHATSOEVER WE BIND ON EARTH SHALL BE BOUND IN HEAVEN.  WHATSOEVER WE LOOSE ON EARTH SHALL BE LOOSED IN HEAVEN.  Mt. 16:19; Mt. 18:18.  WE LOOSE THE SOULS OF MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN AND TAKE THE BLINDERS OFF THEIR MIND.  2 Co. 4:4.  WE HUMBLY ASK THAT YOU SEND ANGELS WITH CHAINS FROM HEAVEN TO BIND UP ALL OF SATAN’S RULER SPIRITS THAT CONTROL OUR LAND AND PEOPLE.

11.  WE CUT OFF ALL OF THE CORDS OF THE ENEMY AND CAST THEM AWAY.  Ps. 129:4.  WE DRY UP THE WATERS OF THE ENEMY AND CAUSE A DROUGHT.   O LORD, DRY UP HER SEAS AND MAKE HER SPRINGS DRY.  Jer. 50:38; Jer. 51:36.

12.  WE HUMBLY ASK THAT YOU HIDE US UNDER YOUR WINGS AND COVER US WITH YOUR FEATHERS TO PROTECT US AGAINST THE ENEMY.  Ps. 91:4.

WE GIVE YOU ALL THE PRAISE AND HONOR AND GLORY, O LORD GOD.  IN JESUS NAME WE HUMBLY PRAY.  AMEN.

Daniel 9:1-19.
