Semiramis

            SEMIRAMIS

I recently much expanded an article on Semiramis that I posted on Facebook some time ago.  The overwhelming majority of Christians have absolutely no idea about what is going on in the spiritual realm. They think that Semiramis or Ishtar is just a figment of man's imagination and great stuff for computer games, movies and the like.  However, Semiramis (also known as Babylon the Great) rules the world today, has completely taken over the Roman Catholic Church and has worked its way into mainstream Christianity.  The Prosperity Doctrine is a manifestation of its focus on the flesh and its lusts, along with fornication, pornography, sexual promiscuity, illegitimate children, abortion, female dominance, greed, illegal drug use, homosexuality, murder and violence, etc.  Well-known church leaders and politicians have fallen to its lure and lusts.

The church is clueless, along with the rest of the world, as to who the true enemy and source of our downward spiral is.  Until we stand up together and start to pray to bind up Satan's strong men, we cannot defeat and plunder Satan's house.  Mt. 12:29; Mt. 16:19.  "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to Me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."  Hos. 4:6.

The recent spate of articles on Semiramis posted on Facebook has drawn some attention to the subject, although of mostly fleeting and passing interest and likely perceived as some movie character in the last scenes of Ghost Hunters..  Semiramis, mother goddess and Queen of Heaven, out of ancient Babylon, is a subject that is much deeper.  She is much alive today and far more invasive of modern culture and religion than one suspects.  “None seeth me.”  Is. 47:10.

Some scholars claim that Semiramis is not the correct name for the first queen of Babylon.  Bishop Alexander Hislop's book entitled Two Babylons was widely castigated because of his supposed error, especially by the Roman Catholic Church, which Hislop attacks relentlessly.  Nevertheless, the original name matters little in the end.  His book is an eye-opener and although arguably not 100 percent accurate (given that it was written in 1911), it is a treasure trove of information and revelation that can lead to a paradigm shift in one's worldview.

She was known as the goddess of a thousand names, Mother Gaea, Cybele, Pele, Kwan Yin, Mother Kali, Ashtorah, Astarte, Ishtar, Venus, Easter, etc.  She is also called the Virgin Mother of God, the Virgin, Madonna (Is. 47:1, 5.  "Madonna is "Lady" in the Latin), Babylon the Great (Rev. 17:5), and Queen of Heaven (Jer. 44:17-19).  She calls herself God and submits to no man or deity.  She seeks worship.  Is. 47:8; Rev. 18:7.  "Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children."  Is. 47:8; Rev. 18:7.  She is an evil spirit, a ruler in Satan's kingdom and one of Satan's major tools through which he rules the earth today.  She is the woman that sits upon the beast in Rev. 17:3 - the headliner, the one on the marquee in flashing lights.  She is found in almost every corner of society, especially in the West, ever digging into the very fabric of human psyche and behavior.  Many of our current attitudes in America reflect the much-successful work of this insidious spirit.  She is surely one of the generals of Satan's army, if not the top, at least up until now.

Although some details differ among scholars, Babylonian myths regarding Semiramis or whatever her name was, mostly agree to the following:

King Ninus ruled over fledgling Babylon and had a wife and a son named Nimrod.  Ninus died when Nimrod was a child and the custom was that if there was a male heir to the throne too young to rule, the queen could rule in his stead until he came of age.  Ninus' widow ruled with amazing ability and conquered the surrounding nations.  She became known as the first Amazon woman, the queen of strongholds.  She became so addicted to ruling that when Nimrod came of age, she married her own son to remain in power.  She is often portrayed as the wife or consort of the son in various Levantine (area encompassing the eastern Mediterranean Sea from Turkey to Egypt) legends.  Statues of a mother holding an infant in her arms, halos around their heads are frequently found in temples to Babylonian gods and goddesses.  The mother is Semiramis or Ishtar, the goddess of the moon, and the infant is Nimrod/Tammuz, the sun god of Babylon; hence the halos.  Together they ruled and controlled their Babylonian subjects through witchcraft and every form of control and manipulation they could devise.  Nimrod became so evil that Shem, one of Noah's sons, had to kill him, cut his body into pieces and sent to every corner of the empire.

The queen was now in trouble because there was no male heir.  Soon after Nimrod's death, however, she proclaimed that she had miraculously conceived.  She subsequently gave birth to Tammuz who was claimed to be the reincarnation of Nimrod.  Tammuz, however, died in his early teens during a boar hunt.  The queen was so distraught that she decided to challenge the gods of the underworld for the return of her son.  She fought so gallantly against the keepers of the twelve gates to the underworld that the gods sympathized with her and agreed that if the women would weep for Tammuz at the end of the year, he would come back to life the day after the winter solstice (the shortest day of the year) which took place around December 23 to 25.  He would be a young man during the spring, a mature man during summer, an old man during autumn and die every winter.  On or about December 25, he would be born once again.

The Babylonians celebrated the re-birth of Tammuz by cutting down a green tree out of the forest, standing it upright in their homes and decking it with silver and gold.  Jer. 10:1-5.  On the eve of Tammuz' birthday, they would take a dead, dried out log representing the dead body of Tammuz (called a "yule" log) and burn it.  Some historians claim that "yule" is a Germanic word, while others claim that "yule" means "child" in ancient Babylon.  Burning of a yule log at the winter solstice is also observed by pagans and WICCA.  The next morning, the children would wake up to see a green tree decorated with silver, gold and other brightly-colored objects.  It represented the re-birth of Tammuz, out of the ashes of the "cremated" log.  There would be gifts for all and the celebration went on for twelve days (the twelve days of Tammuz in Babylonian tradition).  Tammuz is mentioned in Ezekiel 8:14.  The worship of Babylonian gods and goddesses by His people is an abomination to God.  Eze. 8:13, 15, 17.

Thus, the Church has become more and more Babylonian in practice.  Easter  is the spring fertility festival of Ishtar, another name for the Queen of Heaven.  Her signs are colored eggs and hot cross buns.  Jer. 44:17-19; Jer. 6:18.  There is nothing in the Bible that requires that Christians observe the birth of Jesus Christ or His resurrection.  God seeks those that worship Him in spirit and truth.  Jn. 4:24.

God promises to destroy all of His people who worship Tammuz and Ishtar (Eze. 9:1-7), something that may be of interest to you.  See also, Rev. 7:4; Rev. 9:3.  God hasn't changed.

BABYLONIAN PRACTICES

In addition to invading the Church, this strong man of Satan (there is no gender in the spirit realm, although spirits often masquerade in male or female forms), has been busy asserting Babylonian worship and customs into every aspect of modern life.  The following activities mark ancient Babylonian culture and religion, among other things:  (1) mind-altering drug use (the Mesopotamians, who were the forerunners of Babylon, invented cocaine and cocaine was widely used in Babylon and in its religious activities to induce "temple sleep."); (2) sexual promiscuity and pornography (Babylon was famous for its sexual promiscuity, co-habitation without marriage, illegitimate children, temple prostitutes, religious orgies and groves that featured sexual activities and huge carvings of sexual organs); (3) widespread homosexuality (such as found in Sodom and Gomorrah, including same-sex marriage); (4) murder and violence (Babylon was known for its constant wars and violence); (5) fortune-telling and psychic activities (Is. 47:9-13); (6) infant sacrifice to their gods (akin to modern-day abortions as sacrifices to the gods of this world); and (7) female dominance (Babylon had a matriarchal society in which women inherited the family fortune and ruled behind the scenes because of their wealth, which led to widespread incest where males married their own sisters in order to participate in the family wealth.  The cult of Ashtoreth, the wife of Baal and fertility/sex goddess, was more popular than worship to Baal.  Baal is actually a generic term for male deities such as Molech.).

God has always warned His people about adopting the ways of the heathen.  He knows that Babylonian worship and culture are dedicated to the flesh.  This system is a pattern used by Satan's kingdom to steal the souls of men and women everywhere.  Rev. 18:13. Satan is behind every false religion, all of which adopt Babylonian customs in one form or other.  Babylon the Great (Rev. 17:5) is a spiritual city (like Sodom and Egypt in Rev. 11:8), and is already warring against the saints and overcoming them.  The beast she rides on in Rev. 17:3 is the real ruler of Satan's kingdom.  He is waiting for his opportunity.  Once she has accomplished her task, the beast will destroy her and take over.  Rev. 17:16.  It started in the garden of Eden.

America and many countries in Europe are already Babylonian in culture and religion.  Germany, for instance, recently announced that its major religion is witchcraft and Christianity in many European nations is now a minority religion. Soon, Satan will initiate his final push to annihilate the church and all Christians.

ENTER JEZEBEL

The Queen of Heaven came down the generations as an evil spirit and was incarnate in a biblical figure called Jezebel, who worshipped Babylonian gods and goddesses, practiced child sacrifice, sexual promiscuity and female dominance.  Read 1 Ki. 16:25 until the end of 1 Kings.  Jezebel's husband, Ahab, was the king of Israel, but he was into sex, laziness, irresponsibility, and was a momma's boy.  He abdicated his responsibilities and Jezebel ruled the kingdom by usurping Ahab's throne and right to lead.  But he had his reasons.

We will discuss Jezebel in a later article.  Meanwhile, please do not go around accusing women of being Jezebels.
